THE CELLULOSE PLANT CONFLICT

Since April 2005, there have been lots of discussions about whether it's ok for a country to use a common river as a septic tank without the others countries approval to do so.

Well the Uruguay river flows north to south and makes boundary with Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. We all share it and there are laws that doesn't allow anyone to pollute it.

Uruguay allowed Botnia a business group from Finland to start building the cellulose plant by the side of the river at Fray Bentos (Uruguay) opposite to Gualeguaychu (Argentina).

A Finnish and a Spanish company want to invest $1.7bn in the two pulp mills.

Of course the people of Argentina are doing all we can to stop this. Greenpeace is working so hard trying to keep them out of here.

Look I think it's fantastic that politicians create new jobs, industries and they should stimulate other countries to invest here but to allow just ANYONE to kill us?? Did we actually check first who this people were? The reasons for why they want to come here? Cuz I don't think it's only because its cheap, I think their priority reason is to be as near as possible to the Amazon so they can once for all finish cutting every single tree in the area.

Not one job justifies the millions of people we are putting on risk for cancer in the near future. It may be cheap for them to build here but the cost of life and health investment for us in the next few years will provably not be so c h e a p, and believe me they will not pay for it, they will clean their hands with clear water in Europe after counting their millions.

If we don't stop them now they will pollute us for ever. They will fill us with diseases,
Picture cancer all around, NORTH SOUTH EAST WEST.
Everywhere.

These are our trees people. This is our oxygen. This is our water. This is our home. When will we start thinking about Latin America, this man only seek for money and they don't see we are part of the WORLD, that this will kill the world.
Everyone's World.

So what will happen when the weather continues to get wilder?

Do we want the crazy weather we've been having in the last couple of years all over the planet?

Do we want the glaciers to melt away?
Do we want more water in the ocean with the following floodings?

Do we want to cure Cancer?

Do we want to protect our Animals?

Cuz there's no paper you could offer to me that will make all the world's cost worthed.

I think we need clean waters, clean 02, trees to be be able to breath and live.

And to those who say that we all read the paper, we all read books, we all use paper in whatever form it may be, there are other solutions. We need to start planting more trees if we want to cut them. We need to control all the Mr. Burns in the paper business. We should allow them to use a really small % of the trees they plant.

We can not continue living and wasting without planning and thinking about our future.

We need to control those plants that already exist.

So I'm saying no to another plant.

And I will say it

ANYDAY.

We need to stop them now, please visit www.greenpeace.org.ar and sign the letter asking both presidents to stop them.

Not matter where you are from please sign. This is a world issue. We own it this much.
